India–Canada CEPA Round 5: The $70 Billion Opportunity for Business and Immigration

India-Canada CEPA Round 5: The $70 Billion Opportunity

This week (October 5–9, 2026), negotiators from India and Canada are meeting in Ottawa for the fifth round of talks on the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). Both governments have set an ambitious target: conclude the deal by the end of 2026 — and double two-way trade from $30.4 billion to $70 billion a year by 2030.

The numbers tell the story: Canadian figures for 2025 show two-way trade at ~$30.4B and services trade at $15.2B, with education-related travel its largest share. Energy, critical minerals, aerospace and artificial intelligence are among the sectors on the table. For business, a formal trade corridor means lower barriers and first-mover advantage; for immigration, deeper economic integration brings deeper people-to-people ties — business visitors, intra-company transferees, entrepreneurs and professionals.

The full analysis — what the talks mean for your business or immigration plans — now lives on our sister site, kamalimmigration.com.
